Summit Custom 110cm '08
The Evolution of Snowriding Continues
Introducing our all new 2007/08 Summit Custom 110cm Skiboards. As always, these are handcrafted, one pair at a time, with extreme attention to detail. This season\'s Summit Custom 110 cm feature a custom painted silk screened top sheet. Design is by a local artist, Rebecca Koeppen, to capture the essence of our rugged San Juan Mountains, as well as the Native American influence of this area. Our Custom 110 is designed with one goal in mind - to take the sport of skiboarding to a new level of performance. Be prepared to push the limits of what you thought was possible on skiboards once again.
The Summit Custom 110 is designed with a parabolic sidecut which was constructed to function impeccably with the solid Northern Hemisphere Birch vertically laminated wood core that delivers almost effortless carves, with stability at speeds that will truly surprise you. The benefit of Northern Hemisphere Birch is that the colder temperatures cause the trees to grow at a slower pace, thus creating a denser, yet lighter wood. As a result, the birch wood core is very light, yet super strong and durable. Cores are vertically laminated for extra strength.
The high energy, lively wood core is sandwiched between layers of triaxial fiberglass for torsional strength. In addition, a biaxial fiberglass layer is added for a smoother flex and extra reinforcement. This provides just the right combination of flex and torsional stiffness that offers a smooth ride without the chatter no matter how much you lay it over. In addition, a rubber dampening layer is included to absorb vibrations while still allowing maximum road feel.
Being crafted one pair at a time, great attention has been given to every detail, including making sure the flex is evenly distributed throughout the length of the skiboards. This consistent tip to tail flex brings a new level of carving to skiboards, whether in glove dragging lay it over carves or ripping the moguls. Designed for all mountain riding, these custom skiboards are at home anywhere in the resorts including those breath taking steep chutes or flying through the glades. In less expensive skiboards that are made with cheaper materials, you will often notice that they won\'t carry the weight put to the back tails and don\'t deliver an even flex throughout the board, instead \"popping\" at certain moments and even dumping you off the back. Not so with these Custom 110\'s.
For backcountry enthusiasts, the Custom 110\'s are the perfect ascent skis - providing an ease in climbing, so light you hardly notice them on your feet, combined with the perfect design for ripping your line down the slopes. The wide body platform allows you to blast those deep powder stashes with ease, offering awesome floatation.
Summit Custom 110 skiboards feature black graphite sintered bases - highly durable bases that allow for maximum wax absorption to ensure a smooth glide, while offering the ability to attain speeds that are truly impressive. In addition, black bases are easier to repair dings or gouges and bring them back to new looking condition. In contrast, printed bases are much more difficult to hide repairs.
These symmetrical twin tips were designed for ease of riding whether forwards or backwards or just spinning down the mountain and making yourself dizzy! No mass produced skiboards can compare to the smooth ride of these Custom 110 skiboards, no matter what you choose to do on the slopes. To complete the package, special Rockwell carbon steel edges are integrated into the design as well as 4 stainless steel inserts in a centered position for maximum flexibility to position your bindings the way you choose to ride. Also included is a custom fit aluminum reinforcement plate for those who prefer using release bindings drilled right into the boards. This set up provides maximum retention no matter what bindings you prefer to use.
Crafted with ABS sidewall construction, the Custom 110 provides many advantages over cap construction. Among these advantages are increased torsional stability, greater edge protection, enhanced power transfer to the edges, improved vibration dampening, greater strength and a full length flex from tip to tail. Translated, these will ride like no other skiboards you have ridden.
Recommended for advanced to expert riders and for intermediate riders who are ready to take a quantum leap.
Recommended Bindings:
Step-in Release The all new Tyrolia RFD-11 Release Bindings (shown on left) allow full flex of the skiboards (come with free mounting) and allow 3 way boot center adjustment on the fly so you can move your boots back on powder days. Includes wide brakes at no extra charge. Fit boot sizes 8-16 US. NOTE: Indicate in the comments section if you would like us to mount the Tyrolias with forward boot center position on bindings at dead center on the skiboards which then allows two back positions from center.
Frtischi Freeride BindingsThese bindings are excellent not only for downhill performance but allow backcountry access with their 3 position free heel configuration.
Non-Release BindingsThe Custom 110 can be mounted with non-release bindings such as the Snowjam Extreme II or Bomber Elite bindings. Bomber Elite Skiboard non-release bindings are recommended for those seeking maximum performance as the Elite bindings bring out the full potential of these skiboards (4 hole mount). Extreme II bindings are a great, more affordable alternative with all aluminum construction including toe levers. (4 hole mount)
A note about the Custom 110cm and non-release bindings: While there are currently no specific guidelines or laws preventing the use of non-release bindings on skiboards even up to 140cm, the longer length skiboards when used with non-release bindings do increase the risk of injury. Should you choose to use non-release bindings with the Custom 110, you do so at your own risk knowing full well that there is the chance of serious injury.
Sold in Pairs.
Construction Details Summary:
Wood core: vertically laminated, hand selected cold temperature birch wood core runs the full length of the skiboards, tip to tail. Provides a lighter weight yet superior strength.
Centered stance: 4 stainless steel inserts are centered within each skiboard, in a standard 40 X 40mm skiboard binding mount pattern. A centered stance gives you greater flexibility in customizing your preferred riding position. This also increases the retention strength of the bindings and allows for quick and accurate mounting, making it easy to interchange with other 4 hole pattern bindings.
360 full wrap Rockwell carbon steel edges: protects your skiboards from those unexpected dings while providing superior edge grip. Edges are sand blasted prior to assembly to ensure a perfect, secure fit.
Wide Body Shape: a large skiboard surface area for maximum stability, floatation and speed.
Symmetrical Twin-tips: makes it easier to ride forwards as well as backwards (fakie). Excellent handling in the parks and pipes. Also, makes for the most perfect carves.
Aluminum reinforcement plate: provides extra retention for release bindings, yet not adding weight and does not influence flex.
Black Sintered bases: these are made of one of the best base materials - 4000 p-tex sintered - for greater durability, maximum wax absorption and speed. These bases have less friction and thus more speed as well as less vulnerability to abrasion and impacts.
Custom Design: hand painted silk screen design is covered by a duraclear top sheet for extra protection against scratches as well as the UV rays.
Tuning: All Summit skiboards come with factory wax, are fully tuned and ready to ride. We recommend using the Skiboards.com Tune kit to maintain your skiboards in optimal condition. For those of you who like to spin down the mountain, detuning edges is recommended. Edges are set at 90 degrees but can be changed to more aggressive angles easily.
